New resource for families dealing with autism!

Are you a parent of a high-functioning young adult child and looking for a group for support and networking?  Perhaps you are an adult with high-functioning autism and would like to meet others for support, exchange of information about resources, and some socializing.  Autistic Adults and Parents Support Network (APPSNet) is a newly-created organization for both parents and young adults in Wichita, Kansas.

AAPSNet was formed because there was a need for both parents and their young adult children with high-functioning autism to meet others facing similar issues.  Our experience has been that there are groups and organizations for families dealing with autism; although more help is always needed for children under the age of 18 and their parents, many resources focus on children or adults with more severe autism.  Unfortunately, young adults who seem to be high-functioning often face difficulties when trying to obtain employment, going to college, and developing social relationships. We are here to provide a support group for those facing these issues.  (NOTE: We are navigating the various resources and information available and want to share what we've learned; we do NOT provide medical or legal advice).

If you have questions, are interested in joining us, want to post information on this blog (we would like our blog to a source for information exchange), please contact us!  Thanks to the Internet, our virtual community can include people all over the country (and internationally as well). Locally, we would like to meet on a regular basis and are in the process of determining the date and location of our first meeting.

For more information and to let us know you would like to join us:  email us at AutisticAdultsNet@gmail.com or call us at (316) 684-3415.  Also, you can get updates on our blog by subscribing at the lower-right hand corner of this page.

We look forward to meeting you!
